Starbucks FREE Grounds for your Garden

Hello everyone! Today I'm writing a chatty-type post because no DIYs have recently sparked my interest. I hope you don't mind.

At the moment is it the school holidays (or vacation) so I have been out and about with my friends, as you do. Last week I went to the city with a few of my friends and we went to Starbucks at one point to grab some drinks. After buying our drinks me and Kathleen discovered a bucket in Starbucks full of these gorgeous, FREE, 1kg silvery bags of glory.

It's not the easiest thing hauling 1kg of fertiliser home along with your shopping but Monica and Kathleen found the perfect solution. They wrapped the coffee grounds in a jacket and held it in their arms pretending it was a baby, kind of fitting though considering we were walking down K road trying to get to the comic book store. What did I do? I tossed it in an extra bag and hauled it around like more of a civilized person.

What do I do with these coffee grounds?
Add these to your garden plants or nitrogen loving plants in particular (e.g. green, leafy veges like lettuce). Just try and avoid any plants that may be sensitive to nitrogen, or don't add to much.
You can just sprinkle these onto the soil as an additive and then spray on some water or you can mix it with water, allow it to sit in the water for a while and then water your plants with this mix.

Other uses are to add some water to it and spray slugs and snails as an organic slug killer.
Or you could add it to your compost (preferably ones with worms because worms love this stuff!)

If you have any indoor plants I would also add this to the soil. These coffee grounds are very fragrant so they could make your whole house smell delicious, like freshly brewed coffee.

Hi-five from me to you for being a hippie who loves Starbucks and free stuff!

Bye for now,
